About the photographer, Ben Smith

I am primarily a photojournalist and documentary photographer who began shooting weddings many years ago after friends and associates looking for a modern, creative approach to their wedding photography asked me if I would cover their big day as I might a reportage assignment: discreetly and unobtrusively; capturing candid, natural moments in a relaxed and informal manner, without fuss or interference. I have been doing exactly that for my clients ever since.

I am based in London but routinely travel all over the UK and worldwide. When not covering weddings, I divide my time between personal documentary projects, commercial 'lifestyle' shoots for big brands and editorial commissions from magazines and newspapers. This breadth and diversity of professional experience is, I hope, reflected in the quality of my wedding images and is what gives me an edge over much of the competition.
